Tecumseh Showcases New, Sustainable Solutions for Commercial Refrigeration and Cold Chain at Chillventa 2022
At Chillventa 2022, Tecumseh will unveil new compressors and condensing units including a Series "AL" R-290-ready compressor platform, a Series "FH2"A2L-ready platform, and DC-powered Masterflux mobile cooling and refrigeration technology. As a full solutions-provider of "farm-to-fork" cold chain, Tecumseh will showcase its latest portfolio which advances efficiency and sustainability in commercial refrigeration.
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tecumseh Products Company LLC, a global leader and innovator of commercial refrigeration technologies, will showcase its latest product portfolio at Chillventa 2022 in Nuremburg, Germany. Tecumseh's booth will be located at Hall 5-332.
New compressor and condensing unit technologies that will be unveiled at Chillventa include: Series "AL" compressor platform with high efficiency, optimized for R-290 refrigerants; new compressors and condensing units such as Series FH2 and Silensys Advanced, which are specifically optimized for A2L refrigerants; DC-powered cooling and refrigeration technology for refrigerated transport and mobile delivery solutions.
Tecumseh's product portfolio is designed to advance efficiency and sustainability in commercial refrigeration technology and positions Tecumseh as a full solutions-provider of "farm-to-fork" cold-chain beyond food service and food retail segments.
Series "AL" Compressor Platform for R-290
The new Series AL Compressor platform is making its first public appearance at Chillventa. It is up to 15% better in performance and energy efficiency packed in a very compact body compared to existing models in the market. In a quiet and small housing that is estimated to be roughly 5% shorter in height compared to competitive products, Series AL models provide up to 20cc displacements and are designed specifically for L/MBP applications in light commercial refrigeration. The expanded L/MBP operating range allows standardized use across display cases, reach-in coolers and ice machine applications.
Series AL, optimized for R-290 (propane) refrigerants, has capacities ranging from 1,240 to 1,800 Btu/h (0.36kW to 0.52kW) at LBP and from 3,730 to 4,990 Btu/h (1 to 1.5kW) at MBP both in EN12900 conditions. It delivers the same capacity as a larger displacement, single-speed compressor, making more room for merchandise in refrigeration units.
Expanding Portfolio with Low-GWP A2L Refrigerants
As one of the first manufacturers in the refrigeration industry to have introduced compressor models optimized for A2L refrigerants such as R-455A, R-454C and R-1234yf, Tecumseh continues to expand its low-GWP portfolio. The new A2L-ready compressors can be used in indoor or outdoor condensing units ranging from 1 to 20 kW, making it the perfect solution for cold rooms, display cases, refrigerated cabinets and beverage dispensers in food retail and services.
In addition to A2L-ready compressors, such as Series AE2, AJ2, FH2 and AG, Tecumseh has deployed its A2L refrigerant technology in Silensys Advanced, the outdoor condensing unit which is often considered the benchmark in the industry.
These additions are highly efficient alternatives to mid-sized system requirements that are too small for typical CO2-based systems and too large for an R-290-based system. Using Tecumseh's A2L offerings, design engineers at refrigeration OEM companies now have a more suitable approach to refrigerant transitions without compromising system efficiency while meeting low-GWP requirements.
DC-powered, Variable-Speed Cooling & Refrigeration for Transport and eMobility
Due to the recent increase in refrigerated transport of COVID-19 vaccines and accelerated adoption of e-commerce deliveries of perishable goods, Masterflux, Tecumseh's suite of DC-powered electric compressor technology, has gained significant demand. Masterflux compressors that were originally designed in 2004 have expanded their full line-up of cooling and refrigerated solutions to EV and mobile refrigerated applications over time. Most recently, Tecumseh has developed highly efficient mobile condensing units for refrigerated cargo, EV battery-cooling and mobile air-conditioning.
Refrigeration Expert Presentations
Technical Directors from Tecumseh will be presenting during the Industry Expert Presentations during Chillventa.
Lionel Audouy, the Global Compressor Platform Director, will present "Best selection of refrigerants based on refrigeration capacity requirements in your application". In this presentation, Audouy will explain when and why A2L refrigerants should be used in certain commercial refrigeration projects by going over several key case studies. The presentation will be on Tuesday, October 11, 13:40 – 14:00, at Hall 7A, Booth 7A-616.
Robert Terry, the General Manager of Masterflux Business Unit, will present "Improve Energy Efficiency of Electric Transport Refrigeration Utilizing Variable-Speed DC Compressor Solutions". Terry will discuss mobile refrigeration systems of transport refrigeration units utilizing variable-speed compressors; these are not only highly energy-efficient but also capable of controlling temperature more precisely. The presentation will occur on Wednesday, October 12, 11:40 – 12:00, at Hall 7A, Booth 7A-616.
